This Help File incorporates some formatting elements to simplify the use and understanding of this software.  The following is a list of some of the formats:

  • Bold Text: This Online Help uses Bold Text to highlight words that refer to the name of the product, company name, tool names, instructions, and other names that relate to a subject being discussed.

  • Left Margin Header: Just like any of our AutomationDirect (ADC) manuals, this Help File uses the traditional ADC User Manual layout with the left margin of the page used to place quick reference subject headers, notes, or warnings.

  • : The Caution Icon is placed on the left margin of the page to indicate that an important caution message is provided to the right of this Icon.  Usually refers to a Safety Caution.

  • : The Notebook Icon is placed on the left margin of the page to indicate that a helpful Note or message is provided to the right of this icon.

  • Hyperlinks: Hyperlinks are provided as often as possible to allow the users to click on a word with a Hyperlink and access immediate specific information about that word.  Words that have a Hyperlink will be Bold and Green.  When the pointer hovers over the Green text, the word will be automatically highlighted in Yellow to indicate it's a selectable link.  Therefore, links will look as follows:

    Go to Site
    - Normal view of linked text (this sample is not linked).

    Go to Site
    - When the pointer hovers over text that has a link, the text will show a yellow background (this sample is not linked).

This is a sample of a word with a Hyperlink to the ADC web site.  Move the pointer over the Green text, the word becomes highlighted in Yellow and is Underlined.  Clicking on the link will take you to the ADC site.  If the link is in a Note with a yellow background, the green text will indicate a link but the yellow highlight will not be noticeable when hovering over the link.

  • Figures: This help file includes as many graphics as possible to provide a clear understanding of the subjects discussed.  Most Figures, if not all, will include reference labels and/or hyperlinks allowing the user to click on an item in a figure to open the topic discussing that item.

  • Related Topics: Topics that include Related Topics links on the bottom of the page provide the user with a reference of subjects that may be related to the one currently being discussed.  The user may click on any available Related Topics links to select the subject and access the selected topic.

  • Topic ID: This Help File uses the Topic ID displayed on the Top-Right corner of the Topic page.  This Topic ID is useful when contacting Tech Support to refer to a specific Topic.

  • Feedback: Each topic provides a Feedback button located on the Top-Right corner of the page.  When Feedback is selected, a Feedback page will open allowing you to send us feedback or comments about the Help File.  This is a quick and easy way for users to send us feedback, suggestions, notify us of issues with the Help File and any other communication needs.
